We enjoyed our Activity Day today.
We learned more about our Faith In God booklets. We took pictures of each girl and Diana printed them out so they could put them in their books and write their name. This makes it personal to them.
Diana went through each section and each one read the corresponding scripture. We talked about the theme on the inside front cover.
We used a white board and had each section of the FIG book taped to it.
The girls brainstormed what they could do for each section and came up and wrote them down.
Then we learned about testimonies. What they are, how we can obtain one, how it can be lost, and how to strengthen it. We used a home as an analogy. The girls filled it in and labeled it:
- Foundation--Heavenly Father lives and loves us. We are His children. The foundation must be very strong because it holds up the whole house. Heavenly Father must be the foundation of our testimonies. He is strong and powerful and always supports us in righteousness.
- Walls--Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. Walls are very important because they give us a secure place to live. In and through Jesus Christ we can lead secure lives, knowing He will always be there for us. His strength is greater than our own and will protect us.
- Roof--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints is the only true church and Joseph Smith was a true prophet. A roof protects us from the rain and other elements. Other churches have good people in them but only have part of the gospel and that would be like a roof with holes in it. The church was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith.
- Windows--We have a living prophet to guide us today. Windows help us to see what is outside. We can be better prepared by this. For example: if it is raining we can get an umbrella. Counsel and guidance from the prophet is like this. Through revelation from Heavenly Father, the prophet can prepare us for what is happening in our world today.
- Door--The Book of Mormon is the word of God. The scriptures guide us in our everyday life. They teach us the truths of the gospel and open us up to learning and growing. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.
The girls wrote their testimonies on a testimony page. We will do this about every 6 months and they can keep them in their binder in a sheet protector. When they are getting ready to advance fromPrimary they can write their testimony in their booklet and look back and see how much it has grown!
We had sugar and cinnamon muffins and watermelon for our refreshments.
