The ORIGINAL Pancake House

Okay--How long have we lived here, and why have I never eaten here before?????
Last night Mike and Adrianne and Josh and Mere came over to watch Casino Royale after Duff and Chrissy got back from taking Grandma Duffy and Natalie to the airport to fly back to Utah. We made popcorn and lit a fire in the fireplace. Lisa called and I went into the other room to talk to her, and when I hung up I promptly fell asleep on that sofa. I never did finish the movie and ended up going upstairs for bed. In the meantime, everyone else decided we were doing breakfast at the Original Pancake House. The kids have gone there before and we'd 'heard' about the food, but had never been. It's a good 20 minute drive, not that that's a big deal in SoCal. I just mean it's not 'locally close'.
I woke up at 8:35 and we had to meet the kids at Mike's at 9! Remember, I was not in on the planning. Time to throw on sweats, brush the teeth, run a brush through my hair and go! In my 'younger' years, I would have never left the house like that. There are some really good things that come with growing a bit 'older'! Flexibility and spontaneity. Luckily, I was happily surprised as quite a few customers came straight from bed as well! Duff, Christine, Adrianne, and Christian were all in p.j.'s too.
Let me tell you--the food is amazing! It is a small restaurant--seating for 100 only. No frills. But unbelieveable food and plenty of it. When we got there, the line to get in was all the way outside and around the parking lot! Now I know why! They say the wait is about 1 hour at any time!
We all got something different and there was not one bad item. This is DEFINITELY a new favorite. When we were seated, who should be working there, but Kyle Langenheim! He grew up in our ward as a youth and hung out at our house. He used to come by for Sunday dinners regularly. He took his break and came and sat with us and we got all caught up. We're going to keep in better touch with him. Such a great guy! What a nice way to start the day!
