Christmas Shopping

I went down the canyon this afternoon to get some Christmas shopping done.  There are just some things I can get here at Costco and Walmart that I can't get at those same stores at home.  Like Deseret Book items for a lot less than at Desert Book minus the shipping cost.  It feels so good to begin to gather those items.  And I also did some online ordering.  Bingo.  I purchased some generally summertime things on sale and no shipping cost!  Yahooie.  And it comes right to my door.  Ahhhh.

Then over to Deseret Book for the things I can't get at the above mentioned stores, and some serious browsing of the home department.  Can I just have one of everything and wrap it up, please?  The blue and white soup tureen and the large serving platter.  The blue beehive dessert plates.  The beehive jars.  Just a few.  You know.

Next to deliver the blanket set for Ashley and Cortney's new baby.  Every baby needs a new blanket, don't you agree?  We met up at her sister's house and I brought each of us a black and white cookie from The Sweet Tooth Fairy bakery shoppe.  We sat down in the living room and ate our treat and talked away.  She has had some scares at the end of this pregnancy.  Little Theo could be born this Thursday or by next Tuesday for sure.  They will be taking him early at 37 weeks. The doctor gave her encouraging news today at her appointment.

Making A List, Checking It Twice

...Gonna find out who's naughty or nice...
Nah--everyone on my Santa List has been 'nice' this year!
And today my list is just about complete.

Went to Target.  What should have been 30 minutes or less ended up 90 minutes because of all the friends I saw there and all the visiting we did!  But it sure was FUN.

On to BBBeyond.  Oh Thank You to strangers who listened patiently to my questions and helped me make a decision.  Sometimes it is very helpful to ask a stranger for their opinion.  They have no emotion tied up in your decision making so they offer really good things to consider.  And the 20% off coupons--gotta LOVE them.

Next was Sport Chalet. Was I ever high-fiving myself that I happened to go on the day that they were having a huge sale on the most random items I was buying and walked out saving $120!  And the manager even carried them all out to my car.  So nice.

Then.  The Mall.  Very crowded.  But I had my list and I stuck to it and got in and out of there even trying on clothes in 35 minutes.  And I even made it all the way back to the school for carpool pick-up on time.  Whew.

Once home, I pulled my frozen turkey frame out and made a big batch of soup.  It is chilly, and I needed a meal to take to a family (who has been back and forth to the hospital with a son in surgery for a compound clavicle break from PE class) and one to feed mine.  Duff and I visited with them for a while and got all the details and I also got a little woozy looking at the pictures.  It was BAD.  Christine has a couple of friends over and I am finishing the laundry at midnight.
