School Shopping

Today was the day! Back To School Clothes Shopping. I will say it again: I am NOT a shopper! I shop when I need something and have a pretty good idea of where to get it. I go and get it and come home. I'm a window shopper very minimally and am not driven by the shopping 'bug'. So I have to gear up for days like today.

Christine and I made a goal to be at the store by 11am. Darla had to go for her yearly shots this morning and because she has developed an allergy reaction to them, we have to take her in first thing in the morning, given benadryl first and then the shots and then they have to keep her 1/2 a day for observation. Last year she almost died. We got her to the vet truly in the 'nick of time'. So our plan was to be done in time to pick her back up on the way home.

We did some online shopping yesterday from Layers sale items. We decided we would add bermudas and jeans and shoes from Tilly's today with our coupons we got in the mail. She circled all the things she wanted to try on from the mail flyer and we were ready to go!

We had a lot of fun. She could take 6 things in the dressing room at a time, so we would hand the keepers and the go backs to each other deciding on how each piece could be used together and with other outfits. She did really well. She was very aware of what was modest and yet fashionable. On the drive home she 'taught' me all about fashion 'social suicide'. HaHa! Eighth grade is a big year, you know!

One of the best parts was our timing. We got there and got a front parking spot, and literally NO ONE was in the store! How did we manage that? My kind of shopping! We picked up a very drowsy Darla and headed home. Smiles all around!

Christine 'invited' me to help her go through all her drawers and closet! Another great mother/daughter time today! Do you remember doing that with your new school clothes and clothes from Christmas??? Cleaning everything out. It is such a good feeling.

She made all her YW calls and then a pan of brownies for their activity tonight and now she is off for that and I am watching the Olympics. I have to admit: we stay up until midnight every night watching them. Go USA!
