The Bassinette

....is ready to go. Now if 'he' will just come already! Even Natalie's doctor thought she would have had him a week or two ago. Just goes to show you, what do we know anyway! She is 40 weeks today. She has an appointment tomorrow, and we will know more.

This is our family bassinette. My parents got it for us when our first was born, 31 years ago. We pack it away carefully each time. Get it out and clean it up, and dress it up with different ribbon, lace, tule for each baby.
Still looks pretty darn good for 31 years old, huh.
Nats doctor tried to schedule her for an induction last week. The 'big', 'main' hospital in the area where she will deliver, wouldn't let him. They have come under some scrutiny lately for too many inductions before term resulting in complications with the newborns. Coincidentally, there is even an article in the local newspaper today that I read about it online. They received a "D" last year and only moved up to a "C" grade on their 'report card' this year. So, they will only do inductions at 40 weeks 1 day, or if there is a serious, threatening problem with the mother or baby.

So we all continue to wait to meet this little guy. Especially Natalie and Robert.
In the meantime, the bassinette is ready to go and waiting patiently for that phone call that says hurry up and come and hold this baby!

(I am getting Christmas shopping done and feeling really good about that. I am very close to being almost done. NEVER in my whole married life have I been this far ahead of the holiday.)

Oh, poor Nat! I was (2) weeks over (to the day) with my FIRST. But, shhhhhhhh, don't tell her that!!! I thought it was a permanent condition and was SHOCKED when I 'really' went into labor!!! It WILL HAPPEN . . . soon!
Thinkin' about you guys!

Love the bassinet and the sentiment it has. Love the bows! It looks fabulous! Our love to Robert & Nat's! Can't wait for that little guy to get here.

That is SO obnoxious that they wouldn't schedule the induction... my daughter-in-law, same thing. And then she had a 10 lb. 1 oz. baby... which is NOT fun, and certainly not very safe, either! :( I would think with Nat's gestational diabetes they would have induced her at least a week ago! :(

The bassinette is so beautiful. I remember when you and I fixed that bassinett for Michael. It was done in Yellow. What sentimental and beautiful memories.

The bassinet is adorable. Victoria, because my diabetes is controlled they won't induce even though there are risks. I'm worried about having a too big baby as well.

Tell Natalie to hang in there. I had a preemie 6 weeks early and had an emergency C-section on top. Not fun to have a newborn in NICU it's gut wrenching. This guy will come when he's ready. Love the bassinette how neat to have kept it all these years.

I think we all keep checking for an update - especially now that she's at the due date. I like the "simple" look of the bassinette. I always remember the one my mom had...it had tons of tulle stuff as a skirting. It was just too frilly for me. This one is more me! (If I were ever to be able to have kids)
