I understand when you clicked on the recipe for the orange rolls Christine made for our General Conference dinner it wouldn't read well. So here it is. They will be delicious for your Thanksgiving dinner. Good Luck!
Light Rolls Recipe1 cup softened butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoon salt
Cream the 3 ingredients above together in a mixer, then add 1 cup boiling water.
Put Yeast Mixture In A Separate Bowl:
2 packages of yeast OR 4 teaspoons of yeast
1/2 cup of warm water and add a pinch of sugar or honey to help it 'proof'.
Let the yeast rise.
Putting It All Together:
Beat 4 eggs. Add the eggs to the yeast mixture. Put all in a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Add:
7 1/2 cups of flour
1 cup of cold water
Mix. Dough should not be stiff, it should be light and soft.
Rising:
Spray a clean bowl with Pam cooking spray and add dough. Cover it and put it in the refrigerator overnight. OR Cover and let rise in a warm place on the counter top until double in size about 2-3 hours.
Rolling Them Out:
The next day (or after the initial counter top rise), divide the dough into thirds. On a floured surface roll the dough into a quarter inch thick circle. Brush with butter for plain rolls OR brush with Orange Filling. Each circle of dough will be cut into 16 triangles pie/pizza fashion. Roll each triangle like a crescent--from large end to small-- and place on a sprayed/silpat/parchment paper sheet pan.
Cover with a towel or Pam sprayed plastic wrap and let them rise until double in size.
Baking:
Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Glaze tops.
Orange Filling:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cubes softened butter
Grated rind from one large orange
Mix together and spread on circle of rolled out dough. Make sure it is soft so it will spread. Christine used her fingers and a small off-set spatula. Leave at least 1/4 inch around edge without filling.
Glaze for Tops:
2 cups powdered sugar
The juice from the orange you zested for the rind for the filling
Mix together and drizzle on warm (not hot out of the oven) rolls.
Serve and ENJOY!
