Oh, What A Beautiful Morning!

The Quakies that I just LOVE!

The White Birch that I had to settle for, but equally as pretty.

It is so pretty this morning. Coolish, and looking out the window you can see evidence that fall is coming. I know this is Southern California, but we still do get the seasons, just not as 'pronounced' as other places!

When we built the house and landscaped, I naively told the landscaper that I wanted Quaking Aspens all over the yard. I was pretty insistent. He was kind enough not to laugh at me as he explained they wouldn't grow here. I was so disappointed. But he came back the next visit with some great news: we could plant white birch that would have a similar look and feel. I was thrilled. Well I didn't get them all over the yard, but I do have 5 of them! And they are just beginning to 'yellow'. The Liquid Ambers (which I also LOVE), are still green, but have touches of the orange and purple on the outside of the leaves. These are my Fall trees that I love so much. You can tell our house from way at the beginning of the street in the fall and winter when their leaves change and fall off. Now the landscaper was wise, and he talked us into having Camphor and Carrotwoods too so we do have some green year round.

Soccer is at 12:30 today, and then a youth lunch and fireside with Brad Wilcox. Then this evening we have the Ward Adult Conference. Several workshops and then concluding speaker, Brad Wilcox. It is usually pretty nice. Just for the adults of the ward, with dinner, and workshops, etc. The Activities Committee does a good job.

I'll check in later with a recap of the day.
