Well, I'm packed up and ready to go. Mike loaded everything in the car for me tonight including the bookcase that was once in Natalie's room that will now go in John's room. Back in the day, we white-washed it. She's going to paint it black, like a Pottery Barn look. It will go nicely with his things.
My plan is to leave as close to when Christine leaves for seminary in the morning. That will put me there by noon and my mom's surgery is scheduled for 1pm. She called me tonight while I was on the way to the airport to pick up Shaun. She was very emotional and scared about dying tomorrow during the operation. She wanted to tell me how much she loved me. I get it. As I get older I worry a little more about those kinds of things too. I think she will be just fine. But it did tug at me how vulnerable she was. It made me feel vulnerable too.
