Welcome, Welcome Sabbath Morning and The Duffy Ghost

This morning I was getting ready for church, and someone had used the master bathroom and when I walked in it was running over, and over, and over. The whole floor to the carpet was soaked.

Anything built in the last 15 years here, has these new water-saver toilets. Nice on saving water, but not much good otherwise. It is always important to do your 'business', flush, finish, flush. Otherwise it plugs up. Well, I don't know about your house, but in the Duffy house, we have a permanent GHOST. 'He' is responsible for everything that happens when 'no-body' else did 'it'. 'He' must have been here today!

No sooner did we get it all mopped up with towels, etc., then ALL the smoke detectors went off! You have GOT to be kidding me! We now know that if we ever have a real fire, we will not sleep through it! Those things are unbelieveably LOUD--screaming loud!!! We had to get the ladder from the garage and take every battery out of every one to finally get it to stop. Apparently, some water from the bathroom leaked down into the detectors directly downstairs and shorted them, so they all went off. This is of course at 7:30 A.M. and we had slept with most of the windows open so it is reverberating all through the neighborhood!

Well, I was totally late. And this morning we had to get the Primary room set up, the choir seats and stand set up, and the back of the cultural hall set up so we could begin practicing for our upcoming Sacrament Program. We are all sitting in the back of the cultural hall during the beginning of the meeting and will start the program by marching up into the chapel and stand singing our opening song of, "I'll Follow Him In Faith". It will be a GREAT beginning! I am so fortunate to have great counselors and music leaders who were there and had a good portion of it done by the time I made it over!

I had my visiting teaching stewardship interview this afternoon. I always leave there so motivated and feeling good about myself.

We made a turkey dinner today for 'sunday dinner'. I always make a turkey for General Conference Sunday. But Mike and Adrianne won't be able to come to the cabin next weekend, and I didn't want to make the turkey there, because what would we do with all the leftovers since we are leaving the next morning? So we made it today. I usually have an extra turkey in the freezer from earlier in the year after all the buy one get one free specials at Easter time, and fall conference is a great time to use it. It is a wonderful 'tickler' for Thanksgiving!

Got a call from Lisa, and Josh and Meredith had Grandma and Grandpa and Auntie and Uncle Craig over for dinner today. Meredith made tacos. Grandma brought the homemade taco sauce (another post!), and had everything set up so nicely in their tiny apartment. She has made it so cozy and homey. Lisa called while they were still there so I got to talk to her and Meredith. She is quite the hostess. She had all her Halloween decorations out and candles lit, and they had a nice dinner and visit.
