Oh. I sat under a tree in the shade all day in a long sleeved shirt and long pants and forgot to put sunscreen on my chest since my shirt was V-necked and I am paying big time. It is so sunburned.
Duff went to the stake service project--Helping Hands--down in the canyon and helped the fire department clear brush and dead, burned debris from the fires a couple of years ago as prevention for this year's fire season. And I went to the lacrosse tourney.
And the good news is: THEY WON THE WHOLE DANG THING!!! Yup. 1st Place. Out of 13 teams. They get medals and special sweatshirts from the tournament. It was based on a point system. I think the highlight is that they beat Los Al who has deep pockets and well established athletic programs for eons. They are not used to losing. I think the girls were better sports than their parents. Christine came running off the field after the horn sounded right to our arms yelling: We beat Lost Al!! We beat Los Al!!! Can you believe it?!?!?! She played one of the games of her life so far. She is the only goalie for her team so she plays each game the entire time.
We got home around 3pm, just in time to head to Costco with Mike and Adrianne to get ready for Mother's Day tomorrow. Since we don't exactly live close to one, it is an event to go. And now I'm more tired than I was yesterday. Good thing Duff and the kids have the day covered, because I'm going to r e s t.

Surf City--Here We Come (Sing to Beach Boys...)
Regular Friday stuff, and then headed out to Huntington Beach for the Surf City Lacrosse tournament. Christine's team is seeded #1 in the highest division. Yikes. I didn't realize that until I finally printed out the tourney paper. No pressure....! This is when being the mom of a goalie is so hard. My nerves are fried.
They won all their games tonight. Didn't get home until now and she has to be back at the bus tomorrow morning at 5:45am! They play in the first game at 8 tomorrow morning. She is tuckered out and sound asleep, and I am being the nervous mom making sure all the uniforms and such are washed, dried, and packed for tomorrow's early call.
It was freezing down by the beach tonight. The kind of moist cold that just goes right through you. The last game was so down to the wire, that we parents stayed warm by jumping up and down and yelling encouragement to our team. And now I'm exhausted...
The spring weather has been really pretty this week. My geraniums are all out and blossomed with huge red, orange and pink balls of flowers. I got everything watered and fertilized today. I'm feeling the urge to plant begonias and daisies. They are such happy flowers!
