Christine and Darla and I flew home today. We drove the truck down to the airport and got on the same plane Shaun got off of on his return to school. We met at the top of the escalator past security and I handed him the keys and the parking ticket for level one parking. That worked out really well. He came back and we left and made the exchange right there in the airport!
Lately I always marvel at air travel. How do those things get up in the air and stay in the air? There are PEOPLE in them. And we go fast--really fast--turning 10 hour driving trips into 90 minute trips. It really is amazing. I never get tired of the thrill of it. (I just don't do well with turbulence so I take a Dramamine.)
The cabin is so wonderful, but it is always so good to come home. Oh, was my hubby a sight for sore eyes! When he drove up to the curb I just sighed. Love that guy!

I was just thinking this very same thing - how I can get from Chicago to home in just a little over 3 hours and if I were to drive, it would take 2-3 days. Amazing, isn't it! I don't have problems with turbulence - my issues are with taking off and landing. Have had some very scary instances with these and so I am totally frightened the entire time we're taking off or coming down. I never feel safe until the plane has is taxiing to the gate. I guess I'll have to blog about that sometime!
I agree it is amazing how it all works.
