Around Town--NEIGHBORHOOD FIRE!

Scarry.
As we were rounding the top of the hill on our street going home this afternoon, Christine said to me, "Mom.  Is that a fire?"
YES!  Right at the top of our street!  As we went around the bend, a house was completely covered in thick gray smoke.  Lots of police cars were blocking the tiny cul-de-sac that branches off our street and the people who live there all had their cars parked on the hill with children and pets sitting inside.  Everyone was on their cell phones.

Christmas tree?  Burning candle?  Baking mishap?  Fireplace?

After we picked up Christine from Josh and Meredith's on our way home from the temple, we drove by and saw that the cable box and electrical box between two houses had blown up!  It had been 5 hours and they were still smoldering.  There were COX and Edison trucks all over the street with bright lights working on the situation.  Many of the houses were dark, obviously without any power and I'm sure quite a bit of smoke damage.  It would be a bad thing at anytime, but it's Christmas!  Yikes.
