Dad's Birthday

We had a fun time for Duff's birthday tonight. I made a simplified version of Sunday Gravy (linguine and red sauce) with a salad. Favorite cake: Angel Food with Creamy Glaze (Auntie Coy's glaze recipe always!) We ate, quickly sang Happy Birthday, he blew out the candles and then Christine was off for YW. Adrianne and I cleaned up the kitchen in record time and when he got back from the church we had cake and ice cream and opened cards.
Adrianne was off in the downstairs bedroom for a while before dinner. She set the table and then disappeared. I thought she might be laying down on the bed and reading Eclipse (she's almost done...) after a long day at work. But when I checked on her, she was making this Sass-O-Meter for dad! His 'wit' can at times be somewhat on the 'sassy' side, and he is always checking with her to 'rate' it. It has become a joke between them. Now he has his own meter to 'gauge' it! Very cute and clever, Adrianne!

The small rototiller he has been wanting FOREVER for the garden will hopefully come today! We are planting a garden this year. Last year was the first year in 30 years that we haven't had some kind of a garden. We missed it. So here come the tomatoes, zuchinni, beans, peppers, and cucumbers...
