A Little Reprieve!

We are getting a little reprieve! It feels NICE. Today I am very tired from stress, emotions, uncertainty, etc. The good news is that the fire turned east last night and is still moving east. However-- we have been told not to let our guard down completely as there is a possibility it could turn south again and hit us in Dove Canyon tomorrow. We are thinking positive! Weary, but positive! The smoke is just 'stuck', so they can't get the air tankers in to drop water and retardant because the 'ceiling' is so low, but the helicopters are still up and flying.
This is Dan Rawson and Dodie Hargrove with Dan's dog Boomer and Christine sitting on the back of the couch. Boomer has been blind since birth. He is such a LOVING dog. It is amazing to watch him 'feel' his way around with his front paws and nose. Dan and Dodie got out without much. They are chomping at the bit to get back in and see what awaits them. I'm so impressed by their attitudes. This kind of thing makes you REALLY stop and think what is truly important in life.

Dan and Dodie getting in the back seat of Bishop Gregson's truck. Todd Carpenter (one of our neighbors down the street to the right) is a police officer and he and the Bishop are taking them down to see what's 'what' at their homes. Todd was able to use his 'badge' to get into those canyons yesterday and take 2 others in to get medications, etc. (Todd is standing in the street. Duff taught him the missionary lessons 12 years ago and he was baptized. Good guy and great family.)

Mike took Adrianne out for some dinner last night after work, and when they got home walked in with 2 boxes of hot Krispy Kremes! Whoa! They wanted to bring a little 'sweet comfort' to our evacuees and us too. THANK YOU MIKE AND ADRIANNE! De-lish! It was a nice complement to the dinner my visiting teacher brought over--chicken enchiliadas with a great green salad. Everyone in the ward has rallied to help each other. Those who are not 'housing' are bringing in food and the like.

I am cooking tonight though. Adrianne wants to learn how to make tacos. Last week she said, " I'm really craving tacos. I said, well what about Baja Fresh, Wahoo's, etc." She replied, "No, I'm craving YOUR tacos. I need to learn how to make them." So we are doing that tonight. Again, another 'normal' thing to do in the midst of uncertainty.

I'll post more later.
